PERSONAL PROFILE
I am an engineer who focused his research in computational continuum mechanics and who specialized in complex and non-linear biomechanical simulations using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) with a clear multidisciplinary vocation. It drive me to be an internationally recognized expert in the use of computational biomechanics in vertebrate paleobiology and anthropology and I am one of the pioneers in the Iberian Peninsula to use reverse engineering techniques to analyze bony structures of vertebrates. Despite beginning my work in cardiac biomechanics, which was the focus of my dissertation work, I now direct my research to questions important to the field of paleobiology and anthropology. My work involves analysis on skeletal elements ranging from the cranium to those relevant to the study of locomotion located in the postcranium. I am also interested in exploring new methods as evidenced by my development of novel comparative methodologies in the post-processing stages and interpretations of Finite Element Analysis (FEA).

I teach regularly a course for researchers about finite element analysis applied to life sciences and seminars organized by Transmitting Science that brouhght me over the world.
I have been involved in different initiatives aimed at a variety of audience from primary schools to general public. My research has been disseminated with impact in the general media (Spanish media such as El Mundo, La Vanguardia, Diario.es, or international such as the New York Times) and been commented in several scientific and news blogs. I have been interviewed many times in generalist written press and radio. In addition, I am a sustained user of social media tools as twitter in @featunning, to connect with my scientific community but also to reach other audiences.
